Rattan helps preserve the rainforest, as the grass species grows like vines up the trees from the forest floor.
Rattan furniture is not suitable for outdoor use. Artificial rattan is popular as never before as it is a particularly durable material consisting of synthetic fibers that are braided in different ways, giving the garden furniture a stylish and lively look. Varnished or painted wooden garden furniture usually only needs to be cleaned with a soft cloth when they are displayed in the spring. Check carefully for small cracks or scratches when completely dry. If there has been a scratch or a hole in the varnish, it is recommended to give it a layer of paint immediately, so that moisture does not penetrate the wood. In winter, the furniture should be stored in an unheated space such as a covered patio, in the conservatory, greenhouse or in the orangery, garage or basement. It is not recommended to wrap the furniture in tarpaulins or the like. As this can create condensation and thus the risk of the furniture rotting.
